If you have fewer than 5 errors on the Level 1 assessment, then take the Level 2 assessment. On Musition, you will want to start with the course called YST Theory 1. If you make more than 5 errors - in total, there are 32 questions - then we ask that you subscribe to Musition and Auralia and begin training these fundamental skills before arriving at YST. (The conservatory offers 3 levels of entry into the theory curriculum.) To complete the self-assessment, start with the Level 1 assessment and then compare your answers to the given answer key. Below you will find links to self-assessment tests for two different theory levels.

We ask that the first step you make is to evaluate yourself. While at YST, students will continue to have online support but it will be augmented with weekly classroom meetings.Īs a student, you can start now with developing your theory skills. Of course, it is up to the student to take on the task of developing these skills. Online training also allows us to offer skills development before students even arrive at YST for orientation. Students can now move at their own pace in developing the skills that they need. With the advent of theory training software, we have devised online training for students that is available 24 hours a day, all year round. However, entering students often have very different backgrounds and abilities in these areas. YST offers support to all incoming majors in the development of their theory and aural skills.
